As part of the European HealthTech Valley project, innovation stakeholders from Hauts-de-France, Wallonia and Flanders have launched a Cross-Border Tech Transfer Committee, dedicated to bringing together the research, healthcare, innovation and technology transfer ecosystems of the three regions.

This initiative pursues a shared ambition: to accelerate the transformation of research results into tangible solutions for the benefit of patients, healthcare professionals and regional economic development.

Beyond networking, the Committee aims to foster new collaborations around high-potential health technologies. Its work focuses in particular on:

  • identifying complementary technologies and expertise across the three regions;
  • the technology bundling approach, which consists of combining technologies, expertise or platforms from different regions to strengthen their technology transfer and commercialisation potential;
  • bringing together researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, industry players and investors;
  • sharing best practices between Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) in the fields of intellectual property, licensing, innovative company creation and industrial partnerships;
  • developing opportunities for cross-border co-development and technology transfer.

The Committee currently brings together representatives from Biopark Charleroi, Eurasanté, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), SATT Nord, Réseau LIEU, Ghent University (UGent) and Lille University Hospital, as well as other innovation, research and technology transfer organisations from the three regions.

This initiative is intended to expand progressively. Universities, hospitals, clinical research infrastructures, technology transfer organisations and innovation funding stakeholders are invited to contribute to the Committee’s activities and to the events organised as part of HealthTech Valley.

The ambition is to build an open and operational community capable of fostering new partnerships, facilitating the transfer of innovations to the market and strengthening the international attractiveness of HealthTech Valley.

First Meeting : Imaging Across Borders

To turn this initiative into concrete action, the Cross-Border Tech Transfer Committee is organising its first event dedicated to a strategic field for health innovation: biomedical imaging.

📅 17 November 2026
📍 Charleroi (Belgium)

Imaging Across Borders will bring together researchers, clinicians, technology platforms, hospitals, technology transfer organisations, innovative companies and investors from Hauts-de-France, Wallonia and Flanders.

The objective: to raise awareness of the capabilities and expertise available across HealthTech Valley and foster collaboration around preclinical and clinical imaging.

On the agenda:

  • Presentation of the main academic and hospital imaging platforms across the three regions;
  • Showcase of the equipment, services and expertise available to researchers and companies;
  • Visit to the Centre for Microscopy and Molecular Imaging (CMMI), a leading infrastructure for preclinical and molecular imaging;
  • Testimonials from companies, spin-offs and healthcare organisations that have developed collaborations with imaging centres;
  • Networking and discussion sessions designed to encourage new connections and the development of cross-border projects.

This first meeting will help lay the foundations for long-term cooperation between health innovation stakeholders across the three regions.

Join us on December 2nd in Bruges for the annual event of the France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen program. HealthTech Valley will be present alongside other projects from the program to present the initial results and ways to collaborate with and for businesses in the region.

For HealthTech Valley, this will be an opportunity to review the first year of project implementation: the actions and tools already put in place, the initial cross-border observations and best practices identified, the involvement of businesses, the initial building blocks of the strategy to truly foster HealthTech Valley’s emergence, as well as the obstacles encountered.

Whether you are a business, researcher, investor, or regional stakeholder, this event will be a unique opportunity to discover HealthTech Valley and how cross-border cooperation contributes to addressing the common challenges of our region.

On September 23, 2026, Eurasanté welcomed a Belgian delegation to the Hauts-de-France region for a day organized as part of the European Crossroads project. The program included a discovery of three local healthcare companies, a networking lunch, and a presentation of HealthTech Valley.

The day began at Vipali, where the delegation discovered the company’s application and spoke with its team, particularly regarding the protection and hosting of health data. It continued at Newcard, with a presentation of its activities and a tour of the workshop where its home remote monitoring kits are prepared.

At lunchtime, Diederick Blaton, representing VLAIO, presented the Crossroads program. Eurasanté then provided participants with an overview of its ecosystem and the HealthTech Valley project, which brings together health innovation stakeholders from Hauts-de-France, Wallonia, and Flanders. This exchange allowed the companies and organizations present to get to know one another and explore potential collaborations.

The delegation concluded the day at Lattice Medical. Following a presentation of the company by its CEO, Julien Payen, visitors toured its laboratories and attended a demonstration of its 3D-printed products.

These meetings allowed the Belgian participants to discover firsthand the innovations developed in Hauts-de-France and to engage directly with the teams behind them. A fine illustration of the value of cross-border exchanges in creating new links between HealthTech ecosystems.

As part of the European HealthTech Valley project, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), Eurasanté and BioPark have mapped the funding and investment stakeholders in Flanders, Wallonia and Hauts-de-France. In total, 119 stakeholders and organisations have already been identified. This initial database is now being used to develop a tool designed to facilitate HealthTech companies’ search for funding.

Funding needs change significantly as a company develops. A company in the pre-seed or seed phase does not seek the same funding as a company preparing a new fundraising round, its industrialisation or its scale-up. Investors also do not position themselves in the same fields, whether biotechnology, medtech or digital health. By combining the knowledge and networks of the three regions, the project aims to provide companies with a broader view of the funding opportunities available within HealthTech Valley and to facilitate the identification of relevant stakeholders beyond their home market.

More than a simple investor directory, the tool is intended precisely to take these differences into account in order to direct companies towards funding stakeholders that match their profile. The search can be refined according to several criteria: geographical area, type of funding sought, field of activity, or level of maturity.

The tool will continue to evolve. It will be regularly enhanced in order to keep pace with changes in funding schemes and to take the ecosystem’s needs into account.
